Free vs Pro plans
Chatter offers a Free plan and a Pro plan. The biggest differences are token allowance and seat scaling.
Free plan
- 20,000 tokens per month
- Single-user account
- Full access to Stories, Topics, and the Wizard
- All export options
- Best for: solo content marketers, evaluators, light users, and freelancers
Pro plan
- 80,000 tokens per month per full seat
- Multi-user account with full role-based permissions (Super Admin, Admin, Editor, Guest)
- Add additional seats as your team grows
- Best for: content teams, agencies, marketing departments
How to upgrade
- Open Profile and go to Subscription & Billing.
- Click Upgrade.
- Choose monthly or annual billing.
- Confirm payment details and complete the upgrade.
Tips
- Start with Free. Most active users hit the 20,000-token cap within a couple of weeks—that’s your signal to upgrade.
Adding seats
On the Pro plan, you can add seats for additional team members. Seats are billed per user.
How to add a seat
- Open Profile and go to User Management.
- Click the + Invite new user button.
- Select the role type and note the price change alert.
- Add the user’s email address.
- Click the Send Invite button.
What an additional Editor or Admin seat gets you
- Another full Pro user account
- An additional 80,000 tokens per month for that user
- Their own activity tracked in dashboard stats
What an additional Guest seat gets you
View-only access with no token allocation. Guests can browse Stories and Topics and comment on existing ones.
Removing seats
Reducing your seat count works the same way. Lower the count, confirm, and your billing adjusts. Remove the user from your instance separately under the Users tab.
Tips
- Tokens don’t pool across seats — each seat has its own monthly allowance. If one user is consistently maxing out while another barely uses theirs, that’s worth thinking about for your overall plan.
Switching between monthly and annual billing
You can pay monthly or annually. Annual billing typically comes with a discount.
How to switch
- Open Profile and go to Subscription & Billing.
- Find the billing cycle option.
- Switch between monthly and annual.
- Confirm. The change takes effect at your next billing cycle, or immediately depending on the direction of the change.
When to switch to annual
- You want to lock in discounted pricing.
Cancelling or downgrading
You can cancel your Pro subscription or downgrade to Free at any time. Here’s how, and what happens to your data.
How to cancel or downgrade
- Open Profile and go to Subscription & Billing.
- Click Cancel Subscription or Downgrade to Free.
- Follow the confirmation steps.
- Your access continues through the end of your current paid period, then drops to Free.
What happens to your data
- Your Stories, Topics, and brand settings remain in your account.
- Token allowance drops to the Free tier (20,000/month).
- If you have multiple users, all but the primary account holder lose access. Add them back if you re-upgrade later.
- Saved Stories are preserved.
Re-upgrading later
Your account isn’t deleted when you downgrade. If you decide to come back to Pro, all your existing brand setup, Topics, and saved Stories are still there waiting for you. You will need to add back all users when returning to a Pro Workspace.
